Artist Statement
My inspiration behind “Melting Beauty” was my great grandmother’s intricate doily artwork. Although I never met her, I was always inspired by her unique art. I wanted to incorporate my family into this piece through the doily details to the hair color and freckles. It shows that although one’s beauty is impermanent and can melt away, their memories and what they leave behind will last and have an impact.
