Abstract

Hunger is an issue that many people face around the world. The UN SDG Zero Hunger seeks to reduce the price of produce and manage overall food waste. Climate change has made accessing food in many countries a difficult process because of biodiversity loss that has reduced the efficiency of the agriculture system. Today there are 821 million people that live in hunger, which is why we chose to raise awareness and develop a strategy to reduce hunger’s effect on the world. The policy we decided to focus on was the Anti-Hunger Empowerment Act of 2019. It sought to resolve an older bill that was ineffective in providing food to those in need. Both the older and newer policies aimed to improve soup kitchens, food pantries, and other charitable organizations. The policy aspired to create a united front against starvation with the help of these organizations and prevent a lack of food for those who could not access it easily. To contribute to this act, we decided to make a social media account on Instagram so that we can raise more awareness to the problem and actively fight the ongoing issue of hunger. There would be educational posts on what the problem is, what others can do to help, and what other measures are being taken to help aid this problem. Additionally, we would put a link on our account so people who view can donate to a charity that helps hunger, or we could put a link that directs the viewers to a petition to get the attention of a state representative/elected official to help the cause.
