Abstract

The lack of diversity in faculties at educational institutions is a problem that plagued America for as long as the education system has been built on racism. While IMSA likes to pride itself on its diversity, the school is subject to a lot of the same issues regular schools have. Lack of diversity in faculty is a difficult subject to broach, mostly because it requires accountability from administration that isn’t there. Our first step to getting closer to a more diverse IMSA is implementing a yearly report covering diversity in faculty at IMSA. This report/newsletter would have an exact breakdown of faculty, how many there are comparative to white people, racial breakdowns of each department, and so forth. It would also have information on why diversity in faculty is important and where in IMSA it is needed the most.
