Abstract

This study aims to find a correlation between the college debt paid by students and the anxiety they deal with due to it. With the rising costs of education, a lot of students fall into debt by the end of their college. They therefore will have to work overtime, take on multiple jobs or find out ways to earn money while also being able to keep up with their work at the college which often leads them to anxiety and depression, i.e. they lack motivation and do not care about the work that they do. This study employs a quantitative research methodology to gather data from a sample of college students, examining their levels of debt and symptoms of anxiety and depression. The findings of this study may clarify the relationship between student debt and mental health and offer recommendations on how to handle this issue for legislators, educators, and mental health specialists. Ultimately, this research seeks to add to the ongoing conversation regarding student debt and mental health and highlight the importance of further research and interventions to promote the well-being of college students.
