Description
Dr. Ride flew two missions aboard the space shuttle Challenger (1983 and 1984). During the 1983 mission, the crew performed the first satellite deployment and retrieval with the shuttle's robot arm. The 1984 mission demonstrated the potential for satellite refueling by astronauts.
