Abstract

Solving poverty can be quite a difficult task, however this problem can definitely be fixed with a number of solutions. Poverty in America is in reality a lot bigger of a problem than most people tend to think it is. Almost 38 million people in the United States (Or about 11.8 percent of the population) is considered someone to be in poverty. This means that almost one out of every 10 people is considered poor. Poverty can be caused by many things, such as problems with marginalization, the lack of support by the government, or not having enough financial education to support themselves. This is why the best solution to this problem would be to implement financial literacy programs into our schools and have the freedom to teach them externally as well. These classes would teach high school students the basics of how to handle finances while also not having to pay extra since students would take them in school. These classes would be taught through a separate non-profit organization who would also offer teaching to adults that need financial help if they had never gotten any when they were younger. The non-profit would also begin to work to make the class required all around the state, as well as continue innovating with other sorts of ways to teach students.
