Description
Participants in this session will learn about an inquiry-based course taught at IMSA that is required of all sophomores. This course, called Methods in Scientific Inquiry, explicitly addresses three broad areas: data acquisition and analysis, experimental design, and written and oral communication. The first several weeks of the course are dedicated to important skill-building activities. The remaining time is used by students to conduct an experiment or inquiry project of their own design. At the end of the semester, students create a poster, give a PowerPoint presentation, and write a scientific paper on their project.
