Artist Statement
I have grown up with animals all around me - cats, dogs, lizards, hedgehogs - you name it. But when my family installed a Koi pond in our back yard, the way that I looked at animals, and the world, changed. For this photo, I used my underwater Nikon to explore life under the surface. My favorite Koi fish was a large orange butterfly Koi that swam to the surface when someone walked by in hopes of eating out of their hand. This fish is pictured to capture the serene and beautiful life underwater.
