Description

During Intersession, IMSA students participated in a Global Medical Squad, providing primary health care services to under-resourced communities with limited access to medical care in Belize. Across clinic days, students observed nearly 200 medical visits, 60 dental visits, and 5 home visits, gaining firsthand insight into community-based health care delivery. Working alongside physicians, students assisted with triage, shadowed patient consults, supported pharmacy operations, led education workshops, and screened patients. The experience concluded with cultural experiences, including snorkeling at the world’s second-largest barrier reef and touring historic Mayan ruins.
