Description

Using the Pericles' Funeral Oration, this session will attempt to demythologize Athenian democracy. Reading the Funeral Oration as an example of an epideictic speech, we will examine the structure of the test itself in order to gain a greater understanding of what Athenian democracy meant in practice.
