Description

This presentation will describe the steps taken to create a school-wide online History Journal that showcases student research and writing. This presentation will feature high school History students discussing the steps taken and obstacles overcome before an online History journal was published on a schools website. The presentation will describe why students became motivated to think about creating a journal, how they were trained to produce a journal, preliminary discussions with teacher supervisors, the selection of the journal's name and philosophy, the formulation of the editorial process, calling for papers, agreeing to a rubric for confidential consideration of papers, communicating with students following selection of work, the editing process for accepted papers, and publication. Presenters will invite a discussion about how best to showcase History writing work from session attendees to share ideas.
