Description

"One death is a tragedy. A million deaths is a statistic." So allegedly once said Joseph Stalin, and anyone who has spend time teaching knows how hard it can be to get students to engage on a visceral level with lived history. This session examines oral history and microhistory and the role it can play in rescuing that sense of tragedy. These can be powerful tools to help students engage with history by experiencing people who lived it.
