Description
How does one link Michaelangelo to Copernicus, or Rembrandt to the American Revolution? Works of art serve as a valuable complement to instruction in history. The links between visual and textual source material draw students to the subject matter and help them explore the complexities of culture and ideology. The internet provides faculty with extensive access to high quality images for classroom discussion. In this session, we will model discussion strategies by examining four works of art in detail, placing them in cultural context, and tracing their relationships with textual sources and political events.
