Description
The session will trace the history of white nationalism from the ideologies that defended slavery, to the Ku Klux Klan and related groups during Reconstruction, to the second Klan of the 1920s, and finish with a discussion of today's Alt Right Movement and its role in the election of Donald Trump. Teachers will receive handouts and activities that are classroom tested and based on primary source documents. Teachers will learn to use the digitalized congressional KKK Reports that resulted from an investigation of the KKK during Reconstruction.
