Having students research and build commodity chains in groups or individually is an excellent way to teach the history of economics, labor, politics, and taxation all in one fell swoop while giving students agency to choose projects that interest them. A pilot program in commodity chain building at IMSA, deployed in the class called Commodities and Culture Contact, is explained and analyzed.
