Abstract

In today’s world, the prominence of STEM is seemingly unparalleled by any other industry. The exponential rise of tech giants such as Apple, Microsoft, and Google make STEM a viable career choice. However, beneath the extravagant media coverage and the otherworldly achievements of these tech giants, is STEM really the best field to pursue a job in? This research study examines data that is key to determining the viability of an industry, such as: the ratio of university students in STEM to the actual employment rate in said field, trends in the salary of people working in STEM, general interest level, need for the profession, etc. It is important to know the whole story before making a decision, and hopefully this study will help bring people one step closer to solving that issue.
