Education Reform

While the American Education System has been under scrutiny for years, Common Core was implemented in 2002. Critics of the system complain that it does not prepare students for college and disregards non-STEM classes such as art and history. The No Child Left Behind policy in particular is beneficial for the students struggling to keep up with their classmates but is detrimental to the students who have the potential to move ahead. The United Nations Quality Education Sustainability Goal strives to provide high-quality education to everyone, and the No Child Left Behind Policy counteracts this goal. Our approach is to meet with administrators and teachers of local elementary schools as well as survey students about all of their experiences with this policy. With these first-hand testimonies, we can approach congressmen and others that can affect change. These are our students and they are our future, so we need to protect them.
