Abstract
The pursuit of equal and equitable educational practices has been an unremitting partisan issue in American politics for decades. The Every Student Succeeds Act, however, rectifies many of the complications that resulted from President George W. Bush’s No Child Left Behind Act. By allowing states to develop their own educational regulations while still enforcing the minimum educational requirements that must be satisfied by every state, ESSA supports a more individualized approach to educational equity. Acknowledging the socioeconomic disparities that are often present between students in a single incoming class, we hope to work with IMSA administrators and admissions to push for increased awareness among IMSA applicants. Increased awareness to recognize that they can still apply although their financial circumstances may not equal that of other applying students. Through the implementation of this project, IMSA is furthered on its mission to achieve a more equitable campus.
