Abstract

According to a National Sleep Foundation survey, 43 percent of people aged 13–64 have reported lying awake at night due to stress at least once in the past month. Students who get fewer than 8 hours of sleep tend to feel overwhelmed or nervous/anxious. From a survey conducted on Generation Z/Adolescents, 45% of the subjects reported having excellent or very good health compared to other generations. Insufficient sleep can then cause further stress and can lead to sleep deprivation. Chronic feelings of stress can cause the nervous system to maintain a heightened state of arousal for extended periods. Being in this state can severely impact physical and mental health in the long term. However, managing time can reduce stress and improve efficiency.

During our process of brainstorming, we wanted to find a way to combat this problem. We developed the idea of an app that could be used by not only adolescents but just about anyone. The platform would be a space where just about anyone can input things like homework, meetings, extracurriculars, time with others, time with themselves, etc. The app will generate a sleep schedule, custom weeklong schedule with meetings, homework time, and other activities. This project works towards the promotion of a better-managed lifestyle for the improvement of the health of everyone. Moment encourages one to take responsibility for their life and helps make this easier for them.
