Abstract
Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia, and It lies on the northwest coast of the island of Java. Jakarta is home to around 10 million people, but it is estimated that by 2050 95% of Jakarta will be submerged in water. Jakarta’s ground levels are sinking due to the excessive extraction of groundwater using aquifers for their daily needs. Sinking areas of the city are creating a humanitarian crisis. Rising sea levels are not helped by Jakarta's soil sinking on its own people. Many citizens are being pushed inland and the property is unusable. We believe that we can desalinate the seawater around them and replace the cities. In doing so we can also create a by-product of salt; this salt could be later packaged and shipped through a distributor to create a profit for future investments. Once we gain a steady income from the salt sold, the process of desalination could become free and it would still be able to be paid for.
