Abstract

The urbanization of society from small communities or tribes to large cities has been a phenomenon that existed for longer than recorded history goes. It has been so important because of the importance of working together and communicating as people. However, times have changed. The Internet and broadcasting technology have made the rest of the world so accessible that it may be better for people to start going back to living in smaller communities. Through Covid-19 and the rise of asynchronous work, many businesses have learned that they don’t need to bring hundreds of people together to work on something that can be substituted through the internet. People are proven to be happier when they spend more time in areas with nature, which would be very common in a world with more rural life, crime rate is much higher in urbanized places than rural, and waste that is not centralized can decompose significantly faster than something like a dump. The increase of people moving to these rural areas will also add some of the benefits of urban areas as well, such as more diverse skill sets from these people. Our bill aims to facilitate the movement of people to these rural areas by incentivising them through decreasing property taxes, improving public transportation between towns and cities, and increasing access to healthcare in these areas.
