Abstract
Our project relies on advocating for homeless individuals across the country and their right to access lifesaving medication. This act would establish a government supported program to provide lifesaving medication to unhoused individuals in America. This would target
medications like insulin, naloxone, antiretroviral therapy, epinephrine, heart medications, tuberculosis treatment, and psychiatric medications, among others.
To carry through this act, cities across the country with high unhoused populations would implement a medication dispensation network to act as accessible locations staffed by medication professionals to go where there are people who need their help. Access into this network wouldn’t rely on a permanent address or insurance, it would focus on providing lifesaving medication to all individuals who need it.
This act is a necessity because whether or not someone has access to housing should not be the deciding factor of whether or not they deserve to live. Live saving medication is a right for all, and while this isn’t solving homelessness, it is working towards a future that would ensure all individuals have the necessary medication to keep them alive
