Abstract

Tuberculosis affects a quarter of the world’s population in their lifetime, yet no one knows about it because it disproportionately affects underprivileged parts of the world like Africa that have less access to medicine compared to places like North America and Europe.

Tuberculosis affects a quarter of the world’s population in their lifetime, yet no one knows about it because it disproportionately affects underprivileged parts of the world, like Africa, that have less access to medicine compared to places like North America and Europe. Tuberculosis is an entirely curable disease, and multiple vaccines were developed in the 1950s; however, these vaccines and medicines were never properly distributed, so now they are no longer as effective. Having more tuberculosis awareness, especially in more developed areas of the world, would be highly beneficial, since the main issue with tuberculosis is that there is no funding for the development of new medicines. By spreading awareness about the impacts of tuberculosis, this issue can be reduced. The reason tuberculosis is so prevalent in the world today is that no one knows about it. So by educating people, particularly those in more developed regions, about the prevalence, causes, and consequences of TB, we hope to increase understanding of why the disease continues to affect millions of people every year. Our initiative aims to communicate key information about TB transmission, treatment, and prevention through educational outreach and informational resources. Increasing awareness can play an important role in encouraging public interest, advocacy, and funding for TB research. Greater global attention could support the development of improved vaccines, more effective treatments, and stronger international health programs. By highlighting the ongoing challenges associated with tuberculosis and emphasizing the importance of global health equity, this project seeks to contribute to broader conversations about infectious disease prevention and access to healthcare. Through education and outreach, this project aims to help bring attention to a disease that continues to affect millions of people but is often overlooked.
