Abstract

Magnetic Car Thermal Liners made by ThermaMelt is a product initiative to mitigate the issues of snow overload on car tires. During the harsh winters, snow buildup can cause car tires to have a higher risk in car accidents as the chances of hydroplanning increases. Additionally, time will be saved as these thermal liners can work even when the car is off, so now consumers will not have to wait for their car to defrost before heading on to the road. The concept of this product involves a thin magnetic strip that is versatile so it can encompass the rim of any car. These liners are attached with regulated heating mechanisms that monitor the amount of heat being released onto the car tire to ensure that no damage will be done to the tires or the car. A key component of this product is the heat regulation. In order for these thermals to be an efficient tool for cars, they must be both safe and a preventative solution. The heating system is based on electrical resistance heating, a method involved in car seat warmers and defrosters. In this system, electric current passes through conductive materials embedded within the liner, generating heat as resistance opposes the flow of electricity. This heat is then evenly spread out around the liner’s surface area, melting the snow. Regulated temperature sensors and a control unit will be embedded to ensure the temperature remains within a safe range while still effectively preventing ice formation. The system will maintain a regulated temperature between approximately 35°C and 60°C, which is the recommended temperature. For the actual magnetic strip base, it will be cultivated from high-strength neodymium magnets embedded within a heat-resistant polymer base, the strip ensures a firm hold even under vibrations and harsh winter conditions. Then, each magnet which will connect to the car rim will be covered in protective epoxy to prevent corrosion. The strip will be easy to install, simply attach the magnets to the car rim with a mechanic,or yourself and then attach the strip to the magnets. Making the system user-friendly, allow more consumers to use this product and have safe drives.ThermaMelt’s magnetic tire liners provide safe, efficient, and convenient winter driving by preventing ice buildup and enhancing overall vehicle safety.
