Abstract
SignalSafe is an inexpensive and reliable way for people to be informed about imminent natural disasters. Using only a Raspberry Pi, a temperature/pressure detector, a speaker, and batteries, it is quite easy to assemble and distribute. This enables people to take appropriate action if/when they do not have easy access to their phone, other devices, or the internet. Our product aligns with our UN Sustainable Development Goal: Sustainable Cities and Communities. With the worsening problem of climate change, there is a greater risk of natural disasters. People must be informed about natural disasters occurring in their area so they can make necessary preparations or evacuate the area if necessary. Our product provides people with a basic service that allows them to plan and combat the unexpected damage climate change could bring to their community. We plan to use social impact bonding and work with sponsors such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), both of which are organizations that provide natural disaster relief and promote awareness of these problems. Our supplier will be Amazon Business Prime so we can bulk buy the supplies we need. SignalSafe is a product that does not require many materials, which allows it to be produced quickly and at a low price, which is why we can make it affordable for people. SignalSafe aims to make people feel safe, not for us to make a profit, which is why it is refundable within two weeks. Through the use of simple guides and instructions, customers will be able to easily utilize this device, and by making sure we have a customer help desk, any inquiries can be answered that way. We will also collect feedback from users to further improve this product, ensuring that it meets the needs of people in areas prone to disasters. The product will be marketed through social media, collaborations with influential people, and pop-up events in stores so that SignalSafe has a wide reach and can be advertised to people who need it. Overall, our product aims to give people a sense of security in their homes, and not have that constant worry of a natural disaster coming without their knowledge.
