Abstract
Our original goal was to combat a problem specifically IMSA students experience daily. Two of our group members (Will and Pranav) live in 1504, which is infamous for its shower heights of only 63 inches (5 ft 3 in). This showerhead height is not optimal for students to take showers and leads to a very uncomfortable shower. 61.3% in our survey of students felt somewhat to very dissatisfied with the IMSA showers; out of the other responses, 85.4% were from 1506 or 1507, newer halls with higher showerheads than the rest. Our shower attachment encapsulates the original showerhead, curving upwards to allow for a higher showerhead. The “Titan Extension'' is an affordable and removable attachment for the IMSA showerhead, allowing for the user to have a much more comfortable shower. We came up with our MVP while looking online for options on showerhead extensions with some falling in line with our general idea. Combining the design with existing showerhead extensions and our original design, we planned a potential MVP using rubber bands, PVC pipes, and 3D Printing. The unique feature which set apart our design is that our product can tighten around the original showerhead by twisting a knob, allowing for the water exit through the Titan Extension to be more effective. Our basic outline for the solution to the problem of uncomfortable and ineffective showers for IMSA students is the creation of our Titan Extension product. However, another part of the solution is changing IMSA regulations, because as of right now, students are prohibited from tampering with the showerhead. Therefore, to make this product more appealing to IMSA administration so it can fulfill its intended purpose, we put extra emphasis on making sure no damage can be done to the original showerhead.
