Abstract
A four-day school week benefits students at IMSA and other schools that have piloted a four-day school week. Our proposal is to educate about the benefits of four-day school weeks at Illinois high schools. The benefits of this school schedule include less financial pressure on schools, less teacher turnover, higher staff morale, lower transportation costs and improved scores in reading and math. However, not all four-day school weeks are created equal, our project would stress the importance of keeping the number of hours in school the same. Studies have shown that having low hours of school during a four-day school week can diminish scores while there is no difference in middle to high school hours in a four-day system.
