Abstract
The underrepresentation of minorities in the workplace, particularly in STEM fields, is a well-known issue. However, this problem starts much earlier than in their professional careers. Our research analyzes data from the US Census and the Stack Overflow Developer survey to understand the representation of gender and racial minorities in STEM education. We aim to identify the root causes of their underrepresentation and to observe any trends across age groups and generations. By examining the representation of minorities in STEM fields across generations, we hope to shed light on this important issue.
