Abstract
Our SLX project focuses on the ability to access the internet around the world and how it correlates to the rates of abuse. To understand its correlation, we determined the history of internet access across the globe. Comparing the internet access rates and the rates of abuse data, we were able to see that there was a lot of overlap when it came to Central/Sub-Saharan African countries and South Asian countries, in the sense that a lot of countries who experience high rates of violence are also countries who are too impoverished to afford nation-wide internet facilities. Our study will center around goal #16 of the UN Sustainable Development goals by improving peace, justice and strong institutions in countries. By providing internet access to impoverished or regions with higher violence rates around the world, we will be able to assure the safety of the victims of abuse. Our SLX project will bring awareness to this worldwide issue and offer solutions to ensure that these victims would be able to receive access to the help they need, no matter what part of the world or what situation they are in.
