Abstract
Our primary project focuses on the contrasting learning styles of mastery-based learning and standardized learning. Our aim is to evaluate the educational outcomes of students under these two different approaches. Mastery-based learning requires students to demonstrate complete mastery of a particular subject before progressing to the next level, which contrasts with the conventional learning style where students move forward regardless of their mastery level. This method is gaining popularity, with more than 35% of schools adopting it due to its benefits to student learning. Our analysis involves comparing the grades of students in the same class before and after transitioning to mastery-based learning. At IMSA, many classes are undergoing this transition, and in the next school year, all classes will adopt mastery-based learning.
