Abstract
Our LEAD project is about creating a blanket that will have the ability to turn cool and warm at the command of the user. Currently, there are blankets that cool and blankets that heat, however, they can be quite bulky and not very cost-effective. And those products that do aim to solve both are generally just mattresses with two different heated sides. How we plan to combine these two types of blankets into one while trying to make it less expensive and less bulky while at the same time maintaining a good level of comfort is to use some sort of phase change material. This would absorb or release heat depending on the temperature of the user's body. To provide further cooling or heating if needed, a small fan or heating system can be added. The people that we want to target this product towards are those who have trouble sleeping due to any physical issues or people who work a lot and need a good rest. When we do release the product, we will attempt to get investors for our product, so that we can use higher quality materials in our blankets while still maintaining that lower price and less bulky blanket.
