Abstract
Our project, PlateMate, is an all-in-one food waste management app designed for for-profit food services like restaurants, and later food services that provide food for colleges and organizations. PlateMate is the only app on the market aimed at reducing food waste in restaurants and for-profit organizations. PlateMate is built on a simple idea: minimize food waste. At its core, PlateMate tracks food waste and gives suggestions on how to reduce this waste. PlateMate is so much more than this, though. Restaurants can set up partnerships with PlateMate, in which case PlateMate will keep track of the restaurant's waste management through the app, as well as through monthly visits from PlateMate inspectors.
