Abstract
In America, about 7 and a half million people live in poverty, without being able to afford basic necessities like fresh and healthy food. Without food, people are not able to work to make money for themselves to buy food, creating a cycle that is near-impossible to break out of. Our service provides an affordable way for people to obtain healthy food, therefore giving them the chance to work and provide in different ways for themselves. We will start with distribution to low-income areas in Chicago, Illinois to minimize our beginning shipping and distribution costs. In order to make a profit for our company, we will charge a fee in order to obtain the food, yet our price will be cheaper than retailers and other food companies in terms of the amount of food for the price paid. Most of our starting funds will come from donations and outside investors, yet we will be able to make a profit simply from the number of underprivileged people we can provide for, and the fee they pay to get our food. By starting with the most underprivileged parts of the community, we can spread our mission out across the country through the attention that this service would gain from giving affordable food to those not able to obtain it themselves. The significance of our service is to provide food to those who need it most, and more importantly, break the cycle of poverty that keeps 7.5 million people from living a happy life.
