Abstract

Our lead project revolves around the need for more easily accessible laptop chargers. Specifically, we strive to provide rentable battery packs at key locations, such as schools, airports, train stations, etc. We aim to provide relief to travelers who are constantly on the go, tech-reliant people, those who don’t want to carry around another charger, those who are forgetful, and students, all of which may need a “Battery Buddy” to help charge their dying laptop. By implementing these kiosks in various institutions we are providing a vast network of rentable battery packs, expanding upon infrastructure, and providing greater flexibility to consumers. We hope that with a successful launch, we can finish placing all of said kiosks within the decade, ensuring everyone has access to it. In the future we can move towards supplying energy in a clean, efficient, and sustainable manner, cutting down our carbon footprint. By nature, the production and installation of “Battery Buddy” will have a large upfront cost, being inexpensive to maintain going forward. This will allow us to raise money for new waves of kiosks without worrying about maintaining those already implemented. With this in mind, a combination of fundraisers and personal investment will kickstart the project, and profits will fund further expansion.
