Abstract
Coral reefs across the globe have faced mass environmental destruction due to the death of coral invertebrates within ecosystems that rely on them for protection from wave erosion that breaks down coastal habitats. Resurgence is an organization that focuses on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14, “Life Under Water,” by providing coral structures for bleached and injured coral to regrow on, allowing for faster, sturdier growth. By collaborating with governmental marine agencies, structures built by users of the website will be placed underwater in order to support the regrowth of coral reefs. These coral reefs provide an environment for millions of marine species, making their speedy return vital for combating climate change. The website will be targeted towards people with an interest in 3D design and a wish to help the environment as well. With the popularity of 3D modelling skyrocketing in recent years, and millions of people wanting to help the environment but not knowing quite how to, the consumer base is widespread. With this, Resurgence will allow people across the world help contribute to the growth and return of coral reefs.
