Abstract

Drunk driving is one of main causes for teenage and adult death in America, and it is on the rise. Current laws against drunk driving fail to solve first time offenses, as well as combat all future offenses. With this in mind, we propose a bill that steering wheel biosensors be installed in all cars to be driven within the United States. These sensors will decrease the number of drunk drivers on the road by not allowing individuals with an unlawful BMI to turn on the car. Alternatively, we propose that all cars be self-driven within a set timeframe, in order to eliminate the ability for drunk driving. These solutions will reduce or eradicate the number of drunk driving deaths. High costs are justified by the reward of lowered death rates on the road.
