Abstract
The establishment of peaceful and inclusive communities both online and offline is crucial in creating amicable, just, and strong institutions. This is especially important in communities that are home to many impressionable minors such as the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. When relying heavily on the internet in our studies at school, ensuring the information that is being absorbed is not harmful or misleading is important to the development of future generations. To fulfill this goal, this project aims to aid in the dissemination of internet awareness surrounding misinformation and take it under a more critical lens. Therefore, by forming a club and bringing together a group of determined students to combat the current crisis of informational integrity on the web.
One method of action that will be executed by this project is the updating of Wikipedia pages to start decreasing the spread of false information and to increase the spread of underrepresented information. Efforts would also be made to bring a social media presence with the objective of spreading awareness and factual information while correcting other deceitful claims about the world around us.
