Abstract
Unemployment hurts both the lives of individuals and the state of the economy as a whole. By emphasizing job opportunities and giving people direct access to employers to interact with them and find jobs that suit them, we can promote employment and help to end poverty gradually. So, we created an app to help with this. Our LEAD Project is an app/website that lists job opportunities and openings specific to low-income communities where joblessness and unemployment are rampant. Unemployment rates are higher than ever, after having taken a steep ascent since the COVID-19 pandemic. This app is called “AJob”! This service also enables direct collaboration between employers and potential employee prospects, and can be used to introduce new jobs through this mode of interaction. By enabling more job openings to be filled, we expect to increase the productivity of the businesses on the platform, which will lead to them needing more employees to support their growth, in turn creating more jobs for people to fill. By doing this, we expect to lower poverty rates in the United States, specifically in communities where such a change is most needed. We will generate revenue as a business by charging the businesses listed on the app/website a portion of their revenue in order to be listed. We will also permit discreet advertising on the platform to generate revenue from our users without directly charging them. In order to spread the word about our project, we will partner with advertising agencies to push marketing campaigns and hire sales representatives to work with the businesses listed on the platform to market our idea to them and get them on board. We will also reach out to unemployment organizations such as the US Department of Labor and the International Labor Organization to help us make the product as accessible to our users as possible.
