Abstract

Within the United States, poverty has remained stubbornly high, affecting 42 million Americans and increasing the gap between economic classes. Despite nationwide efforts to improve access to education for the financially disadvantaged, unequal access to education opportunities is severely limiting potential talent that can enter the world. This study analyzes the complex correlation between poverty rates and education within the United States. National datasets were used to track these metrics per county. After the data was gathered, analysis and visualization tools were used in order to effectively find trends and communicate these findings to a large audience. By discovering trends in poverty and education and coming up with sufficient data, policymakers and advocates are able to fabricate solutions that make a more equitable country for all.
